I am not kidding, it was an old city basement that I could not fully stand up in. I had a circular saw that was inherited from my grandpa, a few cheap clamps, and a pocket hole jig. After watching some YouTube videos, I took a crack at it.
What you see is my very first project that I still have to this day. I posted this exact photo online and orders started coming in. |

After a few orders, someone asked if we could build a dining table. A few more Youtube videos later, some cursing, a couple mistakes, and this table came to life. The clients loved it and I loved making it!
I realized I was on to something and put a little more effort into marketing and getting myself out there. I was also starting to get some repeat business. |

My wife was pregnant with our son and I wanted to build him something that he could keep for years to come and possibly into adulthood. We decided that project would be a modern dresser that would also double as the changing table. It was a very special project to build and one that I probably spent way too much time on. However, it turned out great and I have had numerous orders of similar dressers since.

After you request a quote I will reach out to discuss the project further and make sure we get all your questions answered. This would be a good time to send any inspiration pictures you have and we will address things like lumber selection, budget, delivery or pick up, and any other customizations you would like.
After a few days I will get back in touch and provide you with a quote for the project. Since lumber prices do fluctuate fairly quickly, the quote will be valid for fifteen (15) calendar days from the time it is provided. Once the quote is accepted, fifty percent of the balance will be due. The final balance is due at pickup or delivery. Most custom furniture projects take a couple of months, from initial quote to project completion. If you are on a specific deadline please let us know in advance. Additionally, the lead time is always subject to change so please inquire about that ahead of time. |

Lumber selection is probably the most misunderstood part of the furniture process. It is also the single element of a project that can change the final price the most.
In general there are two types of lumber - softwoods and hardwoods. Hardwoods come from trees that will lose their leaves in the winter and used for a variety of project types. They also come in varying degrees of "hardness" and colors, making some more suitable for certain projects than others. Some of the common domestic hardwoods include: Walnut, Oak, Maple, Poplar, and Cherry. Because of the different aspects of hardwoods the prices are vary drastically. Softwoods are generally from evergreen trees and will most likely be found at you local home improvement store - think 2x4's. Usually this means Pine, Douglas fir, or something similar. These woods are generally not the most durable but they do paint and stain well and are the most economical choice. These are generally best for more rustic or farmhouse type projects where the durability become for of a characteristic and helps the piece patina over time. |
